Meet your Miss USA 2018... Sarah Rose Summers!

Meet the newly crowned Miss USA 2018, Sarah Rose Summers. 

When she was just 4-years-old, Sarah was hospitalized with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). Thankfully, she had an acute diagnosis and was only in the hospital for a short time. This experience traumatized her and her parents and it eventually drove Sarah to become a Certified Child Life Specialist. She is passionate about child advocacy to help patients and their families who are scared and confused. Now, she serves as the liaison and advocate between children and families and the medical team in children’s hospital settings. She helps patients and their families understand procedures, diagnoses, and more. 

Sarah graduated cum laude from Texas Christian University in four years with two degrees: Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communication with a business minor and a Bachelor of Science in Child Development. 

While in college, Sarah took a leap of faith and studied abroad in Peru. She knew no one, hiked Machu Picchu, visited remote villages, and slept under a mosquito net in the Amazon Basin.

Sarah conducted cognitive research through working a camp in Wasilla, AK for children with behavioral issues due to being traumatized within the foster care system. 

Born and raised a Husker football fan, while in college in Texas, Sarah Rose worked on the Dallas Cowboys Promotions Team, interacting with fans, sponsors, and partners on game days.
